Bioluminescent fungi

Naturally occuring bioluminescence shows up in the fungal kingdom, especilally in the Mycena family. I have been working with Panellus stipticus since the summer of 2021. Below are the parameters and observations made about cultivating this species.

Fruiting timeline: 3-4 months

Substrate:
40% oak
35% oatmeal
20% psyillium husk
5% tapioca starch

pH: 4 (add citric acid to water)

Moisture: 120%

Supplements: calcium chloride, compost

Temperature: 22°C

Note: Genetics are everything. I have had the best luck culturing from plug spawn from suppliers who sell fruited jars of panellus stipticus. Wild cultures are also worth exploring.
